Abstract
The purpose of the study was to validate the Psychological Well-Being Scale which was developed by Ishimura (2014). The participants consisted of 269 university students in the Seoul and Chonbuk areas. The data collected from these participants was analyzed by means of exploratory factor analyses, confirmatory factor analyses, and reliability analysis using the SPSS 22.0 and Amos 4.0 statistics programs. The results were as follows. First, the Psychological Well-being Scale (Ishimura 2014) was revealed 6 subfactors and 43 items. Of these, 6 subfactors and 38 items were extracted, with the exception of 5 items. The construct validity of the Psychological Well-Being Scale was also supported by exploratory factor analyses. Second, the reliability of the Psychological Well-Being Scale indicated adequate internal consistency and split-half reliability. Third, on average, the level of university students`` psychological well-being was found to be normal. The Psychological Well-Being Scale is expected to become more useful in the research of exploratory and positive psychology as it relates to not only the late adolescent period but also adulthood as well.
